A Purposeful Direction
We want to help people connect with God.
In August 2008, Pastor Matt shared the following Vision 411, four core initiatives to be completed by 2011. By God's grace, each of these items have come to pass. We are now in the midst of a one year, one objective vision plan: to add a 4th worship service in a 2nd location in Dubuque. We launched this service in January 2012 at Mindframe Movie Theater, next to the Kennedy Mall.
1) Next Generation
Improve our family ministries (Early Family, Elementary Family, and Students) into places through which families can grow spiritually together. We recognize that the church is a partner with parents, the primary spiritual influencers.
Toward this, we have had 3 new Pastoral/Directorial staff join our team in the past 2 years: Early Family, Elementary Family and Students. We have also completely renovated the spaces these ministries use to connect with families.
2) Worship Arts
Improve our Worship Center so that we can better use the arts in our worship services to share the power of the Gospel.
Toward this, we have renovated our worship center and have changed the way we do worship services and special holiday services.
3) Local Care
Develop multi-faceted care and community ministries that will assist individuals and families in their time of need.
Toward this, we opened a new Neighborhood Resource Center in downtown Dubuque where we are weekly doing mentoring for young parents. We have plans to start further ministries out of this space.
4) Global Church
Develop partnerships with Third World national ministries to accomplish life-changing initiatives.
Toward this, we started a partnership in 2009 with Mountain Top Ministries in Haiti, a 10-year old ministry by Haitians, for Haitians. MTM has a church, two schools with 1,500 students, a medical clinic and an orphanage. Over 180 households in our congregation are now personally supporting students at MTM schools in Haiti, giving about $50,000 per year outside of our church funds. On Christmas Eve 2009, our congregation gave $10,000 for solar powered lighting for 40 homes in a village with no electricity in Haiti - God had other plans, and the funds were deferred to MTM disaster relief after the Jan 2010 Haitian earthquake. In the past 3 years, over 50 people from our congregation have been to Haiti. We are now adding more new partnerships in Mexico City.
