Hope Church Partners With Vida Abudante Church In Mexico City
In May 2011, Hope Church began a partnership with Vida Abudant Church (Abundant Life Church), a new church established in 2010 in Mexico City. In the past two years, led by Pastor Jorge Altamirano, Vida has grown to be a congregation of 100 people, as they focus on sharing the good news about Jesus with the people of their neighborhood. Vida Abudante is part of the FIEL, a national denomination equivalent to the EFCA (Evangelical Free Church of America) that Hope Church is part of. In Aug 2012, 70 families at Hope Church together paid for all the chairs in Vida Abudante's worship center, as a show of support and solidarity. We believe in the power and potential of this congregation to change their city- we're inspired by them!
We are also building bonds with 2 more groups: another new church in Mexico City called Iglesia del Rey (Church of the King), led by Pastor Jose Nolasco, and with a group home for abused girls and their babies, called DAYA House. In Jan 2013, our congregation gave $8,000 from a Christmas Eve offering to the DAYA House to renovate a dorm for them to care for more girls and their young children.
Our EFCA missionary partners Barry & Karla Hannant are our liaisons to these various ministries in Mexico City.
